VIM!

...That's Leah's way of saying her favorite summer activity. She is rocking when it comes to swimming already in the pool and has no fear. She LOVES to jump off the edge and go under the water, she even kicks well on her own.

I have been wanting to get her in swim lessons, so when I saw a little girl just a little bit older than Leah swimming under the water as if she was experienced swimmer equal to a 12 year old, I just had to ask her mother, how could a child so small swim so well? She referred me to a survival training course offered in Louisville that teaches a child how to master the swim-float-swim sequence so they are able to gain confidence in the water not only for pleasure swimming but for survival. The instructor I spoke to today said tht once trained, a child will be able to swim on their own in the water, without swimmies. Wow.

It's not easy though...it's a big commitment. Each lesson is 10 minutes long, Monday through Friday. It usually takes about 4-6 weeks for the child to master the Swim-Float-Swim sequence. It is amazing to see the video on the main web site of a little baby swimming, http://www.infantswim.com/home.html.

Leah starts in 2 weeks, so stay posted for video of some of her lessons. In the meantime, here's a cute short little video of her at the beach with Daddy singing "Row, Row, Row Your Boat".

I Love You Daddy

Forget the cologne, the tie and the cards, Leah strung four priceless words together this weekend for the first time...I Love You Daddy...he's mush.

Leah and I are so lucky to have such a great father and husband, thank you for all you are and do. We love you!

Have a wonderful Father's Day Pop-Pop, Yee, Uncle Brad and Uncle Andrew!

Why Daughters Need a Daddy

Because without him she will have less in life than she deserves

To help her find her way in life

To teach her to stand up for herself

To carry her just because she wants to be carried

To learn what to expect from her husband

To hold her when she cries

To show her how to fix things herself

To teach her unconditional love

Pay It Forward

My brother Brad, his wife Cheri, and their new son adopted from Russia were united as a family today back in the United States after a long adoption process that included two trips to Russia and longs stays in Moscow.

Adoption is at the very core of our family. My dad adopted Brad and I when we were young and loved us from the get-go. He's a pretty amazing guy and definitely one to model after in life with stong morals, hilarious sense of humor and a heart of gold. Because of him and his actions, early on I learned adoption is a great way to build a family.

It's beyond cool to me that both Brad and I ended up adopting as well, funny how life works out. Thanks Dad, for being the best dad and grandfather that we could ever ask for.

Congratulations Brad and Cheri!
