Some Vacation Photos

We had a great trip to beautiful, sunny Destin this past week. Shawn and I had such a wonderful time with little bitty and discovered she is quite the little fish! She could "swim" in the pool and the ocean all day long if it was up to her, and she didn't mind getting her face wet. She just made it the best vacation yet for our is so much more fun with her around.

If you are looking for a place to stay in Destin...try Adagio Gulf Condos, this place rocked.

With her cousins, Mallory and Olivia

Just chillin'
Does that look like fun or what?
The girls having fun in Seaside waiting for an outdoor production of "Beauty and the Beast" to begin.

Stylin' and Profilin'

Some pictures just capture her personality so well...this is one of them.

Leah got a rainbow and hearts painted on her face...she sat still the whole time!

Throw Down!

Hope all the moms out there had a wonderful Mother's Day! We officially celebrated
Leah's Gotcha day and Mother's Day on Sunday (and she also turned 23 months old) at my Mom and Dad's. What a great day, the weather was just perfect!

We also had a little barbecue "throw down" between Shawn and my dad...each has their own way of grilling (one of which is deemed a "sissy" way, although effective, try and see if you can tell which one that is). Both methods were put to the was a nasty competition, there was gnashing of teeth, harsh words, even bribery...but in the end, the official judge, Leah, ruled the contest inconclusive.

Triple Threat

Just because it's a slow news day, I thought you might like to see the talent our Leah has...she can dance, she can sing...and we are still working on the acting part...but she has a flair for the dramatics so I know it's in there somewhere.

Her favorite songs at the moment at Gwen Stephani's "Sweet Escape" (which she prefers to dance to) and Katherine McPhee's "I'm Over It" (which she prefers to sing to). I put clips of her fabulous skills in this little video.

Oh, and right before we started taking video of this...she pulled her pony tail out so her hair is wild...our little teeny bopper.

Monday, May 7, 2007 year as a family

Our sweet, precious little Leah has brought our entire family more joy than can be imagined, we are so proud of her courageous spirit and beautiful, happy soul.

What an incredible gift...what a wonderful year.

One year ago today...

Mom and I boarded a plane that took us around the world, over the north pole, to Hong Kong.

I felt like a child at Christmas time filled with anticipation and overwhelming excitement of finally holding our "Fu Bear" in my arms, while at the same time just absolutely heartbroken to leave Shawn behind on the final leg of this long, amazing journey of building our family. It was a wild mix of emotions.

We were eight hours into the sixteen hour flight when Mom and I knew we had lost it and were heading to the looney bin. It was clearly when we were watching "Big Mama 2" and laughing hysterically as if it was a 4 star movie and even more evident when mom was caught dancing in her seat with headphones on to "who let the dogs out". That long on a plane is just plain crazy making stuff.

Last year after we landed in Hong Kong, I wrote in our travel journal...

"We made it! We arrived in Hong Kong at around 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Mom thinks Hong Kong looks like Hoover Dam…concrete everywhere. It was pretty hot and muggy and the smog is very thick here.

Our hotel, the Kowloon Shangri-la is absolutely gorgeous! The room is definitely a 5 star hotel by US standards. We crashed into our nice, comfy beds and slept like babies."

and the party was just getting started...
